The above quote comes from the Bible, the old Jewish tradition.

It seems war has existed since there was a little abundance to profit from looting, stealing and menacing weaker ones into compliance. When there was nothing to rob—or take, it seems, tribes’ stole women and children. Cultural anthropologist state that war has not always existed. But by some accounts war has existed since the patriarchal society came into being, some 8,000 years ago. So all of history—war, slavery and oppression has been going on an on. The first remote written accounts appears in the early books of the Bible –in the Judeo-Christian tradition accounts states that Cain hit his brother with a stone and killed him. This is an archetypical murder.
