Writers of Heaven and Earth

Heaven is anything that is spacious. It includes your lofty ideas, your beliefs, your metaphysics, your wishes,  and your desires. It is anything you hold as sacred, anything you may put in your safe-deposit box: your jewelry, your birth certificate, your college diploma. Earth is related to your personal existence, your car keys, the key to your apartment, money in your wallet, your husband, your wife, your groceries for the night of the rest of the week. So heaven is a lofty principle, and earth is what you actually have in your refrigerator or your bank account.

Great Easter Sun: the wisdom of shambhala.

Dostoyevsky—the Russian writer—had in many respects a tragic life. Most of his works were published, but at that time he never became a bestseller; few people could read. So sales were scant. Aside from an excellent writer he was a regular gambler, had debilitating epileptic seizures and lived in debt. A century after his death his creditors have vanished, his seizures have disappeared with the wind, and his gambling habits, nobody cares anymore. However, he had an enormous depth to fathom the human soul, he overcame with resilience all obstacles, and then he has lighted the human spirit. All his writings are alive. Well alive. Not only for Russians only, for all mankind.
