Modes of Happines

Positive Psychology


Psychology-- used to be a discipline-- of what was wrong and what went wrong with people. That has started to change. We can make people happier, develop their strengths. The application of a medical model (disease) of people has had dear consequences for people and mental health models.

In the last 60 years, Psychology and psychiatry can claim that we can make miserable people less miserable. We were able to develop a science of mental illness, measure “fuzzy concepts” test variables with randomized double blind experiments and develop treatments both drugs and psychotherapy.
I can distinguish three types of Happiness
·        The pleasant life. (Fun and pleasure)
·        The engaging life. ( Many accomplishments)
·        The meaningful life (Serving and benefiting others)
